Adrian Phillips and Derious Johnson Killed In Fatal Shooting in Huntington, Homicide Investigation
The City of Huntington mourns the tragic loss of two of its own, Adrian Phillips and Derious Johnson. For our Public Works family, the loss of Adrian is a profound and personal blow.
Adrian Phillips, 26, was a dedicated member of our City’s Public Works Department in the Street Division, having joined the team in 2023. In his short time with us, he made a lasting impression. Adrian showed up every day to serve this community with unwavering professionalism and quiet pride. He was the kind of team member every manager hopes to find: eager to learn, committed to improving his skills, and approaching every task with a positive attitude.
Most memorably, Adrian was never without a smile. That simple, consistent kindness brightened the long days and tough jobs. His presence was a steady and uplifting force within the Street Division, making his sudden absence all the more devastating.
His loss is deeply felt across our entire City team. We have lost not just a colleague, but a promising young man who embodied the spirit of public service. We extend our deepest sympathies to Adrian’s family, friends, and all who knew him, as well as to the loved ones of Derious Johnson. In remembering Adrian, we honor his dedication and vow to carry forward the pride in service he demonstrated every day.
