In loving Memory of Emma Biesty |February 22nd, 2026.
Roscommon Town is cloaked in a profound sense of loss this week following the peaceful passing of Emma Biesty on February 22nd, 2026. At just 14 years old, Emma, of The Walk Road, departed this life in the loving and devoted care of the staff at C.H.I. Crumlin, surrounded by her heartbroken family.
Emma was the adored daughter of Tara (née O’Callaghan) and Joe, and the cherished sister of Mark and Amy. A beloved granddaughter, niece, and cousin, she will be forever missed by her extended family, her grandmothers Stephanie and Maureen, and a wide circle of friends whose lives she touched with her presence.
In her passing, Emma is now reunited with her beloved grandfathers, Michael O’Callaghan and Joe Biesty, whose memories she undoubtedly carried in her heart.

Emma’s family will receive friends and neighbours in sympathy at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon, on Tuesday evening, February 24th, from 5pm until 7pm. Her funeral cortege will depart from her family home on Wednesday morning, arriving at the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon, for her Mass of the Resurrection at 11am. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in St. Coman’s Cemetery.
The family has requested family flowers only. For those who wish to honour Emma’s memory, donations can be made to two causes close to their hearts: the Ronald McDonald House and LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, organisations that provide vital support to families in their most challenging times.
To allow all who loved Emma to join in bidding her farewell, her funeral Mass will be live-streamed on Wednesday at 11am.
Though her time was heartbreakingly brief, the light of Emma Biesty’s young life will continue to glow in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May her gentle soul find eternal peace.
