The news of Fr. Tom DiLorenzo’s passing this morning leaves a profound silence where a mighty voice once thundered. For decades, he was not just a priest, but a warrior for Jesus Christ, a man whose life was a living testament to the charge of St. Paul. His battle cry, drawn from 2 Timothy 4:1-2, was more than a radio program slogan; it was the very rhythm of his heart: “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”

And preach he did. With a voice that could command a room and a gentleness that could heal a broken soul, Fr. Tom was one of the most remarkable priests I have ever met. He wore his priesthood not as a title, but as a total gift of self. He was a true father, shepherding his flock with unwavering dedication. He was a dear friend, offering laughter, wisdom, and a listening ear without judgment. He was a **loving servant**, meeting people in their mess and offering the hope of Christ. Above all, he was a faithful disciple, his eyes fixed on the kingdom he so tirelessly proclaimed.

His life, spanning from September 29, 1946, to February 23, 2026, was a marathon of faithfulness. He preached in season, when hearts were open, and out of season, when the world turned a deaf ear. He corrected error with clarity, rebuked sin with courage, and encouraged the weary with a patience that could only come from the Holy Spirit.

Now, the warrior’s battle is complete. The charge has been faithfully kept. We can imagine him hearing a new voice, the voice of the Judge of the living and the dead, saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” May Fr. Tom DiLorenzo, our father, friend, servant, and disciple, now rest in eternal peace in the Father’s embrace.
